Wrapping up 2018
Dec. 31st, 2018 03:08 pmA fic meme snatched from
flo_nelja! Behind the cut.
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted? I don't think I had any predictions, but the last half of the year was much less productive than what I would have liked.
Where did you publish/archive your stories? : At AO3 and Tumblr.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2018? I don't think I saw myself writing Billford with evil!Ford and Dipford with evil!Dipper.
What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? : Formation, my Bill/Pacifica WIP.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? : Small risks mostly, I started some WIPs despite my bad track record with them and tried out a lot of pairings/tropes/stuff I wouldn't go for by my own initiative.
My best story of this year: Traitor's Punishment was probably the most polished story of the year.
Okay, NOW your most popular story : Intruder Management, easily.
Most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion : I thought Done With Faith deserved a little more attention that it got (not that it didn't get any but what can I say, I'm greedy).
Story that could have been better : My set of Bill/Jimmy Snakes/Stan stories, The Good Boss and Demon's Molls, were nice enough but they weren't great.
Most fun story : Penis Envy had a ridiculous concept (Bill with a human penis) and I had so much fun writing it.
Sexiest story : Penis Envy may have been crack, but it was also pretty hot.
Story with single sweetest moment : What's Always Been There, which is about Stans realizing that they have always loved each other.
"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story : Gestation, a nasty Billpreg set in the Intruder Management verse.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters : Beta Phase was a revelation when it came to writing Dipper dark.
Hardest story to write : Insert any Stanchez here. I'm so intimidated about writing Rick and I still am.
Easiest story to write : Need A Bigger Boat was nasty, vicious Stancest fun and it felt very natural to write.
Most overdue story? : I'm not sure what this means, but Formation was something I had been planning for a long time and it was about time I put something out for it.
Biggest surprise : Thy Bosom was just a short thing, but I never thought I'd be writing Beth/Summer Smith smut.
Favorite Opening Line(s):
From "This Marriage Bed", an original M/M story:
It's been three months since Alana died, leaving Theodore and Will alone.
Favorite Closing Line(s):
From "Done With Faith", a Stancest:
But, of course a Stan can never abandon a Ford.
Top Scenes from Anywhere You Would Choose to Have Illustrated:
* Bill/Stan kiss in Reeling It In.
* Ford fucking tied-up trans!Stan in Beat, Incomplete.
* ..not sure if this counts, but I would love to see someone do a page for Mabel's manga from Deep In My Heart There's A Meow.
Most revealing story : Not sure what this means, but The Last Hurrah was quite painful to write.
A story I want remembered :Hard to decide, but let's go with I Won't Be Denied, my nasty little dark!Dipper/Ford.
Story I haven't yet written, but intend to: One where Ford and Stan deal with Ford's Fearamid trauma through roleplay.
Fic-writing goals for 2018:
- Finish my GF WIPs/ prompts/commissions.
- ..then start/take more of them hahaha.
- Write more origfic.
- Write more poetry.
- Write more in other fandoms.
