Fic Retrospectice 2023

anysinTime to look back on my works this year!
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted? Not sure what I expected for this year, so maybe about what I predicted?
Where did you publish/archive your stories? At AO3, Twitter, Tumblr.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2022? Pretty much any of my new fandoms, but Lupin III was probably the biggest surprise because while one of my all-time OTPs is from that franchise, it never sparked writing interest this hard before.
What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? You Know I Can't Love You More, my sick/deathfic for Lupin III. I feel like I did something different from usual with it and while it wasn't widely read (understandably), I was pleased with my efforts.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? The sick/deathfic was a risk in sense that it was a different flavor from my usual noncon smut fic, but I learned that it's possible for me to do different things when I push it.
My best story of this year: Creep Into Me Slowly, a Jon/Elias fic with stalker!Jon hounding Elias.
Okay, NOW your most popular story: Knock Me Out, a Vash/Wolfwood omegaverse.
Most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: You Know I Can't Love You More. I mean, I totally understand why people didn't read it more, I just wish it had gotten a bit more attention, haha.
Story that could have been better: Cling To Your Poison, my original fic for Nonconathon. I tried my hardest with it but I think it was missing something at the end and it was a shame.
Most fun story: Tagged: Unrequited for Hannibal, a Will/Chilton where Chilton writes fanfic, was a little delight.
Sexiest story: An anon fic I won't admit to in one of my new fandoms, but out of the public ones, Creep Into Me Slowly.
Story with single sweetest moment: Days With You Are Beauty (And Lies), my JonElias Somewhere Else story, had some sweetness to go along with the underlying dread.
"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: The Life You'll Have, the Our Flag Means Death necrophilia fic. Infects Us All, the Vash/Wolfwood mommy kink fic, was also quite a lot.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: None.
Hardest story to write: Cling To Your Poison was a challenge as chonky original work.
Easiest story to write: The Liar's Embrace, a Jon/Elias where Jon faces Elias about his treatment of Melanie, came out nice and easy.
Most overdue story?: To Learn And Yearn, my sequel to the Van Helsing/Seward hypnosis fic from last year.
Biggest surprise: I saw none of my Homestuck fics coming this year.

* Vash and Wolfwood smut by the altar in Infects Us All, a Vash/Wolfwood with mommy kink.
Most revealing story: I guess You Know I Can't Love You More was partially about me dealing with some rough RL stuff this year.
A story I want remembered: Creep Into Me Slowly, but also To Bask In His Light Again, my Lucifer/God noncon poem.
Story I haven't yet written, but intend to: Lots of things, but I would like to do a JonElias in which Elias and Jon go to Mama Bouchard's funeral.

- Keep writing, finish some long-time WIPs, Work on original stuff, work on poetry.
